Bruins snag two victories
The Brownton Bruins went 2-1 last week, blanking Twin Town and recording a big win at Carver before closing out the week with a loss at Hamburg.
Lucas Doelger and Grant Baumetz each drove in a pair of runs to pace the Brownton attack to a 10-0 shellacking of the Twin Town Hounds in a non-league game on Wednesday, June 13. Starting pitcher Nick Heller struck out seven in a seven-inning complete game victory.
Brownton followed that win up with its biggest triumph of the season, handing the circuit first loss of the season to Crow River Valley League leader Carver, 8-5, on Saturday, June 16.
Bryant Nordby drove in two runs, with Seth Schuette and Mason Goettl each scoring twice in the win. Schuette started and earned the victory with 8-1/3 innings of work, with Goettl nailing down the final out for the save.
Unfortunately, the glad tidings didn’t last as the Bruins fell 5-1 at Hamburg on Father’s Day.
Goettl scored Brownton’s lone run on a fielder’s choice by Deryk Randt in the fourth inning. Ryan Grams started and took the loss.
