Buffalo Lake man injured in crash
Dustin Randall Kraemer, 23, of Buffalo Lake, was critically injured Wednesday morning just before 7 a.m. in a two-vehicle crash at Highway 212 and Chandler Avenue in Glencoe.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Kraemer was eastbound on Highway 212 in a 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup and was turning left onto Chandler Avenue when his pickup was struck on the passenger side by a westbound 2016 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer driven by Robert Joseph Traynor, 42, of Maiden Rock, Wisconsin.
The state patrol said Kraemer was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with life-threatening injuries. The semi driver was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The impact split the pickup into two, and the rear end caught fire.
The westbound lanes of Highway 212 at Chandler Avenue were closed for several hours while the accident scene was investigated and cleaned up.
Assisting the state patrol at the scene were the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Glencoe fire and police departments, Allina Ambulance and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The intersection is now open.
