Carver thumps Bruins
The Brownton Bruins took one square on the snout in a 14-4 loss to visiting Carver at Barney Tadsen Field on Sunday, June 4.
The Black Sox came out hitting hard and hung a four-spot on the board in the first inning, then adding four more in the fourth, three in the fifth, and three over the final two innings en route to the 10-run win.
Brownton scored all four of its runs in the fifth inning, with Deryk Randt collecting two RBI on a double after RBI singles by Ryan Grams and Matt Schwichtenberg.
Bruins starter Josh Wendlandt took the loss after 3 1/3 innings on the mound. Reliever Seth Schuette went the rest of the way.
Brownton hosted Cologne on Tuesday, June 6, after the Chronicle went to press. The Bruins are scheduled to play at Dassel-Cokato on Friday and host Hamburg on Sunday.
