Ceremony set to honor law enforcement
The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office chaplains will lead a ceremony Sunday, May 21, at 4 p.m., in Hutchinson Library Square, to honor all law enforcement officers, both past and present.
In attendance will be Hutchinson Police Chief Dan Hatten, Lester Prairie Police Chief Bob Carlson, a sheriff’s deputies’ color guard and the McLeod County Sheriffs Posse.
The ceremony is open to the public, which is invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at Oak Heights Covenant Church, 1398 South Grade Road, Hutchinson.
The McLeod County Sheriff Chaplain Corps includes the Rev. Thomas Burkman, Winsted; the Rev. Todd Harris, senior pastor at Oak Heights Covenant Church, Hutchinson; the Rev. Tim Vandenlangenberg of Hope Family Church, Hutchinson; and Chaplain Lisa O’Hara, Hutchinson. McLeod County Sheriff Detective Jessica Fredrickson serves as the sheriff’s office liaison to the chaplain corps.
Chaplains are on call to be emotionally supportive of crime victims, offer resources, assist with emotional trauma and with emotional recovery.
