Cindy Schultz Ford is new county administrator

McLeod County Auditor-Treasurer Cindy Schultz Ford will be the county’s new administrator as of April 3.
The County Board, at its Tuesday meeting, approved an employment agreement with Schultz Ford, setting her salary at $104,312 from April 3 through Dec. 31. That will increase in 2019 to annual salary of $107,441.36. The agreement runs through April 3, 2019.
Schultz Ford replaces former County Administrator Pat Melvin, who resigned last year to become the city administrator in Arlington.
Schultz Ford’s new appointment means she will need to resign as the county auditor-treasurer, which is an elected position. Schultz Ford gave her verbal resignation, effective April 3, on Tuesday morning, and said she will submit a formal, written resignation for the board to act on at its April 3 meeting.
Her term as auditor-treasurer expires at the end of 2018, and will be on the ballot this year. Filings for candidacy open May 22 and run through June 5.
Board Chair Joe Nagel noted that Schultz Ford’s appointment “will trigger some issues in the auditor-treasurer’s office” as she takes over her new duties.
