Citizen asks about charter at city meeting
The Glencoe City Council on Monday heard public input about the Charter Commission meeting that took place the previous Monday, June 12.
It was the opinion of a local citizen who attended the charter commission meeting that the attorney discouraged discussion about items in the charter. He was also disappointed that the charter was never discussed in full: “That’s expecting everybody to know what’s in that charter and I don’t think they did.”
Mayor Randy Wilson explained that the charter is available online for the public and that all commission members were expected to read the charter before the meeting. “I think the charter is a document like our Constitution,” said Wilson. “It’s worked well for a long time. If there were something members wanted to change they should have brought it to the commission meeting, but no one brought anything forth.”
