August 6, 2019
Mayor Schwarze called the meeting to order.
Dave Wendlandt from the Summer Rec Program gave a wrap-up. Council approved to pay the amount not covered by donations and fees. Council thanked Dave and the rest of the helpers for a great job.
Chris Knutson from SEH informed Council that the 2018 Street & Utility Improvement Project is 78% complete with lining left and 88% if we take that out and rebid for next year. The Contractor has pulled out due to excess water again. A four-page punch list has been compiled and should take 3-4 days for them to complete. Some warranty repairs may not get done this year but will be done by next summer. The Contractor will pay for the repair on 2nd St. N. Pay application #10 was approved for payment. It was recommended at the pre-assessment meeting to change the assessed side of a property from the side with service connection to the shorter side of the property. Council approved this change. The assessment hearing on Wednesday, August 28, at 7:15 p.m. at the community center in the amount of $1,500,616.25. Water meters were discussed. They will have these for us next month to approve the bids.
Public Works reported that Pearson was here last week to do the seal coating. Fire Hydrants were flushed this week. Council approved the Terex quote to repair the bucket truck. The summer help is done at the end of August. The old school was broken into again. Chad bought plywood and sealed the doors and screwed shut all the windows. Neubarth Landscape was here last week to remove some trees on 7th Ave. S. Council approved a bid from Redline Systems for a snow pusher and South Central Door Co. to replace four garage doors and two openers on the shed out back,
Chief Bauer said the body worn camera system is up and running. It is working well and they have had to use it already. The Policy is in place and Council approved it.
McLeod County Recycling asked each community to discuss moving their recycling bins from the current location to inside their monitored compost site. Council discussed and decided they do not want to move recycling bins at this time.
The Energy Assistance Program for 2019-2020 was approved.
Software training was approved for the City Clerk with Tyler Technologies.;
Council approved and welcomed Becky Havelka to the Planning and Zoning Committee.
The liability for rental events minimum coverage was approved for
$500,000.
The gambling permit for the Brownton Fire Department Relief Association was approved.
Recreational Motor Vehicle ordinance will be looked at again next month. Ordinances #5, #7, #13, #15 and #16 were all repealed.
The council approved donating $100 to the GSL Booster.
