City Council Minutes
June 4 2019
Meeting called to order by Mayor Schwarze.
Becky Havelka gave a Brownton Days update scheduled for July 26 – 28. Update included cleanup plans, street closing and parade plans. City will provide volleyball sand and net.
Resident Ken Archer expressed concern of cars speeding on city streets. Brownton PD will be adding daytime patrol and will address as necessary.
Chris Knutson from SEH had insufficient information to submit Pay Application #9; Council will hold a special meeting to approve. 2019 Project bids estimated at $275,930, were all grossly over estimated, with low bid of $469,080 from R&R Excavating. Bids were rejected by council and will be rebid in January, 2020 Update also include new water meters and water pressure discussions.
Public Works update included accepting the bid from Hjerpe in the amount of $25,285 to repair drainage issues on the west side of the Civic Center. The Council also accepted a $1,500 proposal from Slabjacking Specialties to raise the cement flooring in the park shelter.
Chief Bauer resumed body cam discussion. Council approved purchase of body cams not to exceed $4,500. Brownton PD will provide coverage for Brownton Days. Court hearing for the grocery store abatement to raze the building will be held on Friday, June 7 at 1 p.m. Clerk will contact McLeod County to acquisition property at the corner of 3rd Street N and 7th Ave. N.
Council approved TC&W Abatement to exchange electricity charged for permits billed the city.
Fire Department Liquor License for Brownton Days was approved.
Council discussed removal of east school building and will be soliciting bids.
Upon motion, meeting was adjourned.
