City of Brownton-Speical Meeting
City of Brownton
Brownton City Council
Special Meeting
October 28, 2019
6:00 p.m.
Council Present: Norman Schwarze, Doug Block, Curt Carrigan, Jesse Messner, Lori Copler
Staff Present: Lori Cacka, Ken Bauer
Visitors: Jakob Kounkel
Mayor Schwarze called the meeting to order.
The Council met to review wages. Mayor Schwarze went around to some of the surrounding towns and obtained information on their wages. The Council discussed ideas of how to get to a fair evaluation of the employees and how to develop an accurate wage scale. Council members Copler and Messner said they would be willing to help develop a plan if that is the direction they end up going.
After much discussion, Council agreed to check with the Keystone Compensation Group that Silver Lake used and see if that is something that would work for us. If the fee was reasonable, it seems like a better option to have an outside source develop a step wage scale for us.
Council also talked about the budget and how it would be affected if we changed salaries now. It was decided to leave salaries as is in the budget for this year and continue to work on this for next year.
Dollar General has proposed a new site again. This one would be right on the corner of County 25 and Highway 15. A letter was drafted and will be sent to Dollar General with the items that the City requires with the new proposed site.
Upon motion by Council, meeting was adjourned.
