City Council hears updates on project, Heat in the Street
Public Works Director Gary Schreifels updated the Glencoe City Council on the Lincoln Park street project at its meeting Monday, June 1.
Schreifels reported crews are working on installing the waterline on Eighth Street from Greeley Avenue by the skating rink to the water plant. The temporary line has been tied into the water plant to feed the neighborhood residents while crews continue to put in the new water lines.
The sanitary sewer line installation on Ford Avenue was expected to start Tuesday, June 2, and continue through the week, weather permitting.
Schreifels also reported that communication between the residents and project managers has gone very well.
Schreifels noted that residents may experience a drop in water pressure at times during the project, but will experience the same quality of water they are used to having.
Mayor Randy Wilson asked if the crews have encountered any soil issues. Schreifels reported that no major issues have yet been encountered. They were able to work in sand on Eighth Street from the skating rink, but have now encountered the typical clay that is normally found under Glencoe’s streets, which has slowed them down a little.
