City council OKs 2020 levies, smaller operating budget
The Glencoe City Council completed the business it had to wrap up Monday, Dec. 16, before moving on to the more contentious issues.
The council approved Glencoe’s 2020 property tax operating and debt service levies as well as city’s operating budget. Offering no rationale for his opposition at the Dec. 16 meeting, Councilor Allen Robeck cast the lone vote against the levies and 2020 operating budget.
The votes came two weeks after the annual truth-in-taxation hearing where there were no objections from the public to the proposed increases in the levies and budget were offered. The city is taking advantage of additional local government aid to offer a smaller budget increase than the previous year. It is putting money aside to protect previous investments in street infrastructure.
