ORDINANCE NO 598
    AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CORPORATE LIMITSOF THE CITY OF GLENCOE TO INCLUDE CERTAINUNINCORPORATED LAND ABUTTING UPON THE CITY LIMITS AND OWNED BY THE CITY
PURSUANT TO MINN. STAT. § 414.033, SUBDIVISION 2(1)
WHEREAS, the City of Glencoe, a Minnesota Municipal Corporation is the fee simple owner of certain land situated in Glencoe Township, Section 11 Township 115 Range 028, McLeod County, Minnesota, legally described as follows:
Tract A of Registered Land Survey No. 31, McLeod County, Minnesota (hereinafter the “Land”); and
WHEREAS, the Land abuts the City of Glencoe’s incorporated area and no part of which is included within the limits of an incorporated city; and
WHEREAS, the land to be annexed is tax exempt; and
WHEREAS, the land described abuts upon the City limits at approximately the West line of the East Half of the Southeast Quarter Section 11, Township 115, Range 28 boundary lines of the present corporate limits of the City of Glencoe (See map attached hereto as Exhibit “A”). THE CITY COUNCIL OF GLENCOE, MINNESOTA ORDAINS:
Section 1:  The City Council hereby determines (1) that the annexation will be to the best interest of the City and the territory affected; and (2) the land abuts the municipality and the area to be annexed is owned by the municipality;
Section 2.  This ordinance is brought pursuant to Minnesota Statute 414.033, Subdivision 2(1).
Section 3.  The land is tax exempt.
Section 4:  Territory Annexed.  Pursuant to Minn. Stat. '414.033, Subd. 2(1), the corporate limits of the City are hereby extended to include the land described as follows and the same is hereby annexed to and include within the City as effectually as if it had originally been a part thereof:
    Tract A of Registered Land Survey No. 31, McLeod County, Minnesota.
Section 5:  Filing.  The Assistant City Attorney is hereby directed to file certified copies of this Ordinance with the appropriate state agency, McLeod County Auditor, Glencoe Township Clerk and McLeod County Recorder.
Section 6:  Effective Date.  This ordinance takes effect upon its passage and publication and the filing of the certified copies as directed in Section 3, and after approval by the Office of Strategic and Long Range Planning.
