City levy to decline slightly, according to tax hearing info

The Glencoe City Council reviewed the 2017 proposed budget at the truth-in-taxation hearing on Monday, Dec. 5.
The budget includes $3.525 million in total revenues and $3.525 million in total expenditures.
Local Government Aid (LGA) accounts for $1.34 million of the revenue, an increase of $5,000 from 2016. City Administrator Mark Larson explained that an increase has been in the state’s tax bill, and that the Legislature has not passed a tax bill the last couple of sessions.
The proposed $2.272 million 2017 levy includes $1.506 million in general fund revenue and $766,000 in debt service.

Projects included in the debt service amount are the 11th Street/Morningside Avenue, the 1997 McLeod Avenue/North Central holding pond, the 1999 Aquatic Center, the 2003 County State Aid Highway 3, the 2010 City Center, 2014 street improvement, 2015 Lincoln Park and 2016 Armstrong Avenue projects.
