City, owner awaiting judge’s decision on grocery store razing
Senior Judge Janet Poston hasn’t yet handed down a ruling on what to do with the former Nelson’s Market, now informally known as “the old grocery store.”
The Brownton City Council voted to raze the building over concerns of its safety to Brownton citizens.
The council claims, with the city building official’s recommendation, the building is a safety hazard. The building’s dilapidated state was on display in court on Friday, July 26, as Ken Janssen of Gavin, Janssen and Stabenow, Brownton’s law firm, exhibited around 15 photos of the building.
