City to re-advertise for liquor store job

The Glencoe City Council at its Monday night meeting continued discussion about the Glencoe Wine & Spirits liquor store manager position.
The City Council officially approved the new job description and increased job points for the position. Council Member Gary Ziemer moved to approve the job description for the liquor store manager. Council Member John Schrupp seconded the motion. The motion passed 4-1 with Council Member Allen Robeck voting no.
Ziemer then moved to approved the recommendation to increase the job points from 494 to 750, which would give the job a similar rating to a department supervisor. Schrupp seconded the motion. The motion passed 3-2 with Robeck and Council Member Cory Neid voting no.
The City Council then passed revised motions concerning salary and re-advertising the position with the correct job description.
“I think that we should be re-advertising for the position since it was put in the paper as an assistant manager and we’re actually changing the job description and hiring somebody as a store manager,” said Neid, who brought up the same concern at the Personnel and Legislative meeting last Monday.
Council Member Milan Alexander agreed, saying that it should be reposted with the correct title. Alexander continued by stating that he would like to revisit the minimum and maximum pay, vacation time, and a six-month probation with the City Council.
