Common Cup to open thrift store in Glencoe

Common Cup Ministry will be opening a thrift store in Glencoe sometime in mid-February, it was announced Monday.
Bev Bonte of Common Cup said the store will open in the old Dueber’s Store on 11th Street, on the east side of Snap Fitness. It will be called “Thrift Shop of Common Cup Ministry.”
Bonte said proceeds from the store will be used to help Common Cup achieve its mission of helping local residents in need or crisis.
While mid-February is targeted as an opening date, organizers hope to start accepting donations as early as Jan. 23, once they have a chance to get the space spruced up and shelving and other furniture installed.
One of the volunteers, Gloria Hilgers, said that those wishing to make donations can contact her at 320-864-4174. Acceptable items include clothing, small appliances and small furniture items. No electronics will be accepted.

Common Cup Ministry has been in existence for 17 years, and is supported by area churches, businesses and individuals.
It supports individuals in need through its support of Hunger Free McLeod, crisis funding, diaper distribution, coat drive, back-to-school supplies and many other areas.
