Conservative group gives local, area state legislators high marks
State lawmakers representing the Glencoe area and McLeod and Sibley counties received high marks from the American Conservative Union foundation in its annual ratings of this year’s legislative session.
Minnesota State Rep. Glenn Gruenhagen, R-Glencoe, and Minnesota State Sen. Scott Newman, R-Hutchinson, both received the award for conservative achievement, a designation that rated their conservative voting at 80 to 89 percent. It is the second rung of conservative voting, just below the award for conservative excellence, a level between 90 and 100 percent, according to the foundation’s rankings.
