Council hears update on park campground

In its normal fashion, the Glencoe City Council took care of its business in under 40 minutes Monday, June 1.
Park Superintendent Mike Drew reported that the campground project at Oak Leaf Park is moving along.
The original quote for the shower floor was $6,046. Drew sought alternative quotes both for an epoxy floor coating and porcelain tile. The new quotes ranged from $3,597 to $4,950.
The lowest quote was from Permanent Coating Solutions of Mayer. The company did the floors at 4-Square Builders in Glencoe. Drew said they “really looked nice.”
The Council asked about the expected life span of the surface and if the floor would have something to make it a non-slip surface.
Drew reported that given the estimated foot traffic of the floor, the life expectancy would be 15-20 years. He added that the surface would have some “grit” in the mixture to make it a non-slip surface.
City Administrator Mark Larson added that there will be some heat in the building over the winter so there wouldn’t be any freeze/thaw issues.
The floor coating is expected to be put in next week.
