County Board adopts 5-year road, bridge plan

The McLeod County Highway Department is hoping to get better bids by planning projects in the area of the Highway 15 reconstruction planned this summer between Highway 212 near Brownton and Winthrop.
The McLeod County Board considered — and adopted — a new five-year highway and bridge plan at its Feb. 17 meeting.
The county is planning to spend about $1.9 million to reclaim and put bituminous surface on County State Highway (CSAH) 17 from CSAH 7, south of Stewart, to Highway 15, and then from Highway 15 to the eastern county line near New Auburn.
The county also is looking at a reclamation and bituminous overlay for CSAH 26 from CSAH 7 to Highway 15, then east to CSAH 25 north of Brownton, at a cost of $1.15 million. That project will tie in with last year’s overlay of CSAH 25 from Brownton north to CSAH 26.
Also included in the 2015 plans are four bridge replacements, which are contingent on township or bridge bonding funds, as well as the usual seal coating, signing and pavement marking projects.
