County Board approves Sheriff's drone purchase

The McLeod County Board of Commissioners moved through their meeting efficiently on Tuesday, July 17 in the Glencoe City Center Ballroom — there wasn’t one dissenting vote in the hour-and-a-half session. They discussed the purchase of a drone for the sheriff’s department, two high school 4-Hers presented information from their Citizenship Washington Focus trip, two representatives from Putting All Communities Together (PACT) for Families shared McLeod County mental health data, and Amy and Anthony Wagner looked for board approval on Area 22 Paintball hours extension and a commercial campground development.
McLeod County Sheriff Scott Rehmann wasn’t at the podium for very long before Commissioner Joe Nagel said, “I’m not 100 percent pleased with how we got here, but we got here.” At the end of the discussions, he also said that it’s a great program that will end up paying for itself. Commissioner Ron Shimanski had concerns about when the equipment will be considered antiquated, referencing the accelerated technological era.
