County Board considers engineering study on Dakota Trail issues, future

The McLeod County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday morning to seek requests for proposals from engineering firms to determine the existing condition and future needs of the Dakota Trail.
Commissioner Doug Krueger, who is the board liaison to the county’s trails committee, said his “phone lit up” after the trails committee voted unanimously to make the request for the engineering study.
Nevertheless, Krueger said, “it’s the right thing to do.”
Krueger said the study would give the committee a better idea of the current state of trail and what needs to be done to improve it.
“We’re all over the place,” Krueger said of committee discussions regarding the Dakota Trail. “We don’t know how to proceed, or even if to proceed. We need to see what it is and what we need to do.”
