County Board needs new meeting spot

The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office will be moving its administrative staff into the County Board meeting room March 25, which means the board will need to find a new meeting spot.
The sheriff’s office will be utilizing the meeting room throughout its jail expansion and security project, which could last up to a year and a half.
On Tuesday, March 8, the County Board agreed to hold the majority of its meetings during this time in the City Council Chambers at the Glencoe City Center.
There will be a slight charge for the meetings, but the county should be able to use the City Center’s video equipment to continue to record its meetings for broadcast on local access stations.
Commissioner Doug Krueger also pointed out that, typically, County Board meetings are held the morning after the Glencoe City Council’s Monday evening meetings.
“Everything will already be all set up, so they don’t have to move anything,” said Krueger.
On Monday, the City Council heard that the county will for sure be using the City Center for one of its two monthly meetings.
The County Board also is considering rotating some meetings at various cities throughout the county, and that will start in April when it will meet at the Hutchinson High School for student government day. That may give more citizens the opportunity to attend meetings, the County Board indicated.
And should there be scheduling conflicts at the City Center, or if another community is not scheduled, the County Board may consider meeting at the Trailblazer Transit building on the west edge of Glencoe.
