County, city forced to delay Morningside project until 2020
Work to extend Morningside Drive north through the railroad crossing to County Road 15 have been shelved until next year, McLeod County announced last week.
The project is intended to move traffic to Highway 212 more efficiently and away from a school/residential neighborhood. It will open a crossing of the railroad tracks at Morningside Drive and create a link to County Road 15 at a roundabout. In exchange for the opening at Morningside, the city has agreed to close the existing railroad crossing at Union Avenue.
