County considering buying Jungclaus property on Chandler

McLeod County is negotiating to buy the vacant Jungclaus Implement building on Chandler Avenue in Glencoe.
The County Board held a closed session Tuesday — as it has a couple of times — to discuss real estate negotiations on the property.
County Administrator Pat Melvin said the county is considering purchasing the property to help with space needs.
“We have some areas where we are bursting at the seams,” said Melvin. In addition, he said, the county continues to contend with its aging Health and Human Services Building on Ford Avenue, which was the former Glenhaven Nursing Home.
In other business Tuesday, the County Board:
• Heard from Sam Lauer of Contegrity that the jail expansion project is entering its final stages, with the exterior brick finished except for a final wash, outside site work has begun, painting is being wrapped up, and ceiling grid panels and lights installed.
