County planning commisson considers St. John’s addition

The McLeod County Planning Advisory Commission recommended approval of a conditional use permit for David Swift, representing St. John’s Church in Hassan Valley Township, and a one-lot sketch plan in Bergen Township for Brian Gatz, at last Wednesday’s meeting.
Swift requested a conditional use permit on behalf of St. John’s Church to add a building on the north side of the existing church. The building would be used as a Sunday school facility with multiple classrooms, a storage room, a handicapped-accessible lavatory and a utilities closet. The building would be separate from the church, but connected by an enclosed passageway.
St. John’s Church is currently working with Lifestyle Homes in Litchfield as the contractor.
No negative public input was given at a public hearing on the proposed conditional use permit.
McLeod County Commissioner Rich Pohlmeier, the County Board’s delegate to the Planning Commission, thanked Swift for preparing a solid building proposal.
The Planning Commission did not have any concerns with the request and unanimously recommended approval to the County Board. The Planning Commission’s request will be brought to the McLeod County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 16.
