Cross-Country squads both third at D-C Invite

The Glencoe-Silver Lake cross-country teams both finished third in their respective boys’ and girls’ races at the Charger Invitational in Cokato on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Oscar Pena paced the Panther boys with a fourth-place finish in a time of 18 minutes, 35.20 seconds. GSL took three out of the top nine slots in the 68-finisher race.
Following Pena was Connor Hallaway in sixth with a 5,000-meter run of 18:49.10 and Joe Knudten in ninth with a time of 19:11.20.
GSL’s scoring contingent was rounded out by Paul Sievert’s 24th-place run of 20:03.20 and Ethan Knudten’s 33rd-place time of 20:31.00.
Isaac Swift (59th, 22:38.20) and Tison Werner (61st, 23:09.50) also ran for the Panther varsity.
The GSL boys logged 76 points in all, seven behind first-place Annandale and second-place Northwest and five ahead of fourth-place Delano.
Kendall Guerrero and Maddie Lemke’s 1-2 punch led the Panther girls to their third-place finish.
Guerrero took 11th in 22:46.10, just ahead of 12th-place Lemke’s run of 22:47.80.
Megan Siewert was 16th in 23:01.70, with Malayh Metcalf in 22nd at 23:26.70. Abigale Boetel finished off the varsity scoring with a 37th-place run of 24:23.60.
Majkya Metcalf (40th, 24:54.70) and Kendra Klobe (61st, 26:29.50) also ran for the varsity.
GSL amassed 96 points to place third. Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted was first with 39 points, Rockford took second with 70 and Annandale was fourth with 105 points.
The Panther cross-country squads head to Litchfield Golf Course for the Dragon Invitational on Thursday before making their annual trip to Duluth for the Swain Invite on Saturday morning.
