Cross-Country squads both third at D-C Invite

The Glencoe-Silver Lake cross-country teams both finished third in their respective boys’ and girls’ races at the Charger Invitational in Cokato on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Oscar Peña paced the Panther boys with a fourth-place finish in a time of 18 minutes, 35.20 seconds. GSL took three out of the top nine slots in the 68-finisher race.
Following Peña was Connor Hallaway in sixth with a 5,000-meter run of 18:49.10 and Joe Knudten in ninth with a time of 19:11.20.
GSL’s scoring contingent was rounded out by Paul Sievert’s 24th-place run of 20:03.20 and Ethan Knudten’s 33rd-place time of 20:31.00.
Isaac Swift (59th, 22:38.20) and Tison Werner (61st, 23:09.50) also ran for the Panther varsity.
The GSL boys logged 76 points in all, seven behind first-place Annandale and second-place Northwest and five ahead of fourth-place Delano.
Kendall Guerrero and Maddie Lemke’s 1-2 punch led the Panther girls to their third-place finish.
