Cross country teams have much running to do this week

As they prepared for a stretch of four runs in seven days, the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams competed in just one race last week, finding themselves on the 5-kilometer course at Baylor Park for the second time this season on Tuesday, Sept. 15 in the annual Norwood Young America Lions Invitational.
The GSL boys took seventh in their 19-team field, while the Panther girls placed 11th among the 19 teams in their competition.
Michael Schaefer led the GSL boys by taking third out of 133 runners with a time of 17 minutes, 3.9 seconds.
Michael Meyer came in 28th with a time of 18:39.4, followed by Austin Schroepfer and Tony Fischer in 42nd and 43rd, respectively, with times of 19:12.0 and 19:14.9. Joseph Knudten rounded out the GSL scoring with a 55th-place run of 19:35.2.
