Cross-country teams place third and sixth at NYA Invite

The Glencoe-Silver Lake cross-country running teams returned to a familiar course at Baylor Regional Park for the Norwood Young America Lions Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
Both the Panther squads finished high in their respective five-kilometer runs, with the GSL girls taking third out of 13 teams and the boys placing sixth out of 18 clubs.
Maddie Lemke led the Panther girls by placing 17th in the girls’ race with a time of 21 minutes, 44.6 seconds.
Malayh Metcalf took 18th in a time of 21.51.1, with Ellie Schmidt close behind in 21st with a run of 21:56.8.
Kendall Guerrero was 26th in 22:31.0, with Megan Siewert closing out the team scoring in 34th at 23:33.0.
For the boys, Tony Fischer led the way with a 27th-place time of 18:15.8, followed by Connor Hallaway in 31st at 18:21.6 and Jakob rusten in 33rd at 18:28.2.
Oscar Pena was 41st in 18:56.8, with Ethan Knudten in 46th at 19:02.7.
The Panthers are scheduled to host the annual Caty Delwiche Invitational at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Seminary Stadium.
