Dance team reincorporates jazz routine

After a five year absence, the Glencoe-Silver Lake dance team has reincorporated a jazz routine to its high kick routine at competitions.
“We let any girls who wanted to dance jazz be part of the team,” coach Bertina Miller said. “We ended up with 17 girls on our jazz team.”
The Pantherettes’ jazz routine debuted in a Wright County Conference meet at Rockford on Thursday, Jan. 12.
While GSL placed last in jazz at the meet with scores in the twos and threes, the Pantherettes upped those scores to threes and fours two days later in an invitational meet at Belle Plaine.
“They cleaned up their performance a lot with only one day of practice in-between,” Miller said. “With adding in the jazz program, the technical skills we work on in jazz will help the girls in (high) kick.”
