Darvin R. Rolf, 73, of Norwood Young America, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America with the Rev. Eric Aune officiating. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 19, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, one hour prior to the service, all at the church.
Casket bearers are Mitchell Rolf, Larry Thompson, Glenn McPadden Jr., Don Smith, Wendell Stuewe and Rob Jacobs.
Interment will be in the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Hamburg.
Darvin Richard Rolf was born June 2, 1943, in Glencoe, the son of Henry and Malinda (Dammann) Rolf. He was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg.
On Oct. 14, 1967, he was united in marriage to Margaret J. Brazil at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Green Isle. This union was blessed with two children, Matthew and Melissa.
Mr. Rolf was a 40-year-plus employee of the phone company and valued the relationships he had with all of his local customers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing golf and baseball. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching his grandson play football and baseball. He was a past member of the Hamburg Fire Department. He also enjoyed traveling, especially regular getaways and social hour with Sally and Larry Thompson. He also enjoyed watching soap operas. He also loved doing “yard work” with neighbor and friend Ron Jacobs.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Judy; son, Matthew Rolf (fianceé Amy Messner) of Glencoe; daughter, Melissa Rolf of Brooklyn Park; grandson, Mitchell Rolf; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Sue Rolf of Gig Harbor, Washington; sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Ron Trick of Norwood Young America; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike Brazil of Norwood Young America, Mary Jo Hochsprung of Eagan, Patsy and Johan Miller of Belle Plaine, Nancy and Dick McCormick of Green Isle, Jean and Joe Kreger of Green Isle, Sally and Larry Thompson of Nicollet, Larry and Deb Brazil of Belle Plaine, Susan and Dr. Steve Brau of Mason City, Iowa, and Marty and Marilyn Brazil of Litchfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Malinda Rolf; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Irving and Marie Brazil; sister-in-law, Judy Kay Brazil; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lynn and Don Sauter; niece, Christine Segna; and nephews, Anthony Brazil and Shane McCormick.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
