Dennis Bernard Reiter, 72, of Plato

Dennis Bernard Reiter, 72, of Plato, died Sunday, April 3, 2016.
 
Memorial services were held Friday, April 8, at the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, with the Rev. Anthony Stubeda officiating. Sue Mielke was the pianist and Irene Makovsky was the song leader. The Spanish choir sang “Que Los Angeles.” Musical selections were  “How Great Thou Art,” “Hosea, Come Back to Me,” “You Are Mine,” “On Eagle’s Wings” and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
 
Urn bearers were Kelly John Haugen and Carl Parys.
 
Dennis Reiter was born to Bernard “Ben” and Bernice (Friedman) Reiter on Jan. 17, 1944, in St. Cloud. He was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. He graduated from high school in 1962, and completed a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1966. He studied oceanography at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, before returning to Minnesota.
 
On Dec. 27, 1975, he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Berger at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis. In 1981, the couple moved to Plato with their 4-year-old daughter, Kristin. Their marriage was blessed three years later with another daughter, Evangeline.
After college, Mr. Reiter worked for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, investment firms, and Mystic Lake Casino. He also developed a training program for insurance agents and investment brokers and dealers. He was active member of the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, including his service as a Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Reiter was a patriotic and hardworking man who also enjoyed singing, dancing and teaching dance to others. He cherished time spent with his family and friends and was always available to lend a helping hand.
 
He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Reiter of Plato; daughters, Kristin Reiter and her fiancé, Hannibal Wyman, of Seattle, Washington, and Evangeline (Reiter) Skrla and her husband, Ryan, of Seattle, Washington; siblings, Russel (Zhuling) Reiter of San Antonio, Texas, and Lou (Dennis) John of Amery, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Sandy Reiter of Longmont, Colorado; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law on his wife’s side; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Bernice Reiter; and siblings, Jerome Reiter, Janice Reiter and Thomas Reiter.
