Donna Mae Baumann, 85, of Glencoe

Donna Mae (Rannow) Baumann, 85, of Glencoe, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at Sunrise Senior Living in Edina.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 8, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Daniel Welch officiating. Yvonne Schuette was the organist. Soloist Justin Rierson sang “How Great Thou Art.” Congregational hymns were “Just As I Am” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”
Casket bearers were David Latzke, Larry Moehring, Gerald Bren and Chelsea Baumann-Roembach. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Donna Mae (Rannow) Baumann was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Biscay, the daughter of George and Frieda (Jungclaus) Rannow. She was baptized as an infant on Dec. 13, 1931, by the Rev. P. Weltge at her parents’ home in Biscay, and was confirmed in her faith as a youth on Oct. 29, 1944, by the Rev. Happel, at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Biscay, and then on July 4, 1953, by the Rev. E.A. Schuett at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She received her education in Hutchinson, graduating with the Hutchinson High School class of 1949.
On Feb. 14, 1953, she was united in marriage to Clarence Baumann by the Rev. Walter Fischer at St. John’s Evangelical Reformed Church in Biscay. The couple made their home in Glencoe. In 1978, they bought a place on Lake Minnie-Belle. They shared over 52 years of marriage before Mr. Baumann’s death on Oct. 29, 2005.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Baumann worked as a telephone operator in the early years. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, where she served as a teller and volunteered in other areas. She also was a member of Glencoe VFW Auxiliary Post 5102.
She loved the community of Glencoe and considered it home even when they spent winters in Florida, Texas and Arizona for over 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, dancing at the Pla-Mor and Lake Marion ballrooms, sewing, singing and golfing. Many memories were made with family and friends at Lake Minnie-Belle.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Baumann (wife Carrie Klemenhagen) of Victoria; grandchildren, Chelsea (Claire) Baumann-Roembach and Jason (Katie) Baumann; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Kayanna Baumann; brother, Maynard Rannow of Silver Lake; sister, Marlys Vinkemeier of Watertown; sister-in-law, Elda (Jerry) Latzke of Mankato; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Frieda Rannow; husband, Clarence Baumann; daughter-in-law, Shari Baumann; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Ray Bren and Eileen and Glen Moehring; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ervin and Jane Baumann.
