Dorothy Ernhart, 98, of Bemidji
Dorothy Josephine (Posusta) Ernhart, 98, of Bemidji, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 29, at the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids with the Rev. Tom Freidl officiating. The organist was Joy Horejsi and the mass music was led by the Alleluia Choir. A poetic eulogy was delivered by granddaughter Laura Cheri, and the song “Taste and See” was sung by grandson-in-law Kevin Cheri.
Casket bearers were all her grandchildren. Interment was at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Park Rapids.
Dorothy Josephine (Posusta) Ernhart was born Oct. 6, 1916, near Lester Prairie, to Joseph and Mathilda (Emme) Posusta. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1935, and married Frank Ernhart on Sept. 19, 1939, in Silver Lake. Their union was blessed with five children, Kenneth, Lenus, Patti, Jean and Ronald. Together they farmed near Winsted, Waverly and finally Silver Lake until 1962. In 1963, they purchased the Fran-Dora Pines Resort on Lake George, which they operated until 1974.
Mrs. Ernhart loved to dance and she and Mr. Ernhart belonged to square dancing clubs in Cokato and Park Rapids. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting and playing cards. She was active and served as an officer with several organizations including garden and homemakers clubs and the Lake George Senior Center. She was a faithful member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids. She also volunteered for many years at various locations including Wholesome Harvest, the Assessment Clinic, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and was a nutrition site manager at the Lake George Senior Center and at River Heights in Park Rapids.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Ann) of Cabot, Arkansas, and Lenus (Angela) of Fort Davis, Texas; daughters, Patti (Jim) Lee of Custer, South Dakota, and Jean (John) Mathweg of Bemidji; daughter-in-law, Marlys of Park Rapids; brother, Raymond of Dassel; grandchildren, Wayne and Paul Ernhart, Cindi Kalpac, Kevin and Rodney Ernhart, Laura Cheri, Fred and Andy Cordova, Debbie Springman, Dan and Sarah Ernhart, Darren and Mike Mathweg and Jen Vandermeer; 27 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, Ronald; brothers, Wilfred and Irvan; and sisters Evelyn, Lenora and Myrtle.
