Dorothy Jean Picha, 92, of Glencoe

Dorothy Picha

Dorothy Jean Picha, 92, of Glencoe, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 25, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glencoe with the Rev. Michael Fritz officiating. Musical selections were “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace.”
Casket bearers were Greg Fleck, Matthew Fleck, Ralph Picha, Markus Fleck and Ray Urbaniak. Interment was in the Glencoe City Cemetery.
Dorothy Jean Picha was born April 7, 1925, in Glencoe, the daughter of John and Christina (Uhlis) Picha. She was baptized as an infant on May 26, 1925, by the Rev. H.B. Sutherland at her home, and was confirmed in her faith as a youth in 1939 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glencoe. She received her education at Glencoe High School.
Miss Picha made her home in Glencoe. She worked for a tax accountant, at the Glencoe courthouse and was a secretary at the Glencoe High School. She was a lifetime and active member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glencoe, where she taught Sunday school. She also was involved with the Girl Scouts.
Church was her life. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing cards, working on family trees and participating in the activities at the nursing home, especially playing bingo. One of the highlights of her life was her trip to Czechoslovakia. She loved the time spent with family and friends.
She is survived by her siblings, Erwin Picha of Glencoe, Lorraine Hanson of Fridley and Eunice (Leland) Fairbanks of Arizona; sister-in-law, Charmaine Picha of Glencoe; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Christina Picha; siblings, Marion Picha and Maynard Picha; and brother-in-law, Edgar Hanson.
