Down and up, GSL boys still looking to steady play on court
There was a quietness borne of disappointment when the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ hoops team watched the video of its performance against Watertown-Mayer last week. It was bad enough to provide the Panthers the spark they needed to beat a tough Litchfield ball club and earn a split for the week.
“I think they were a little surprised,” said GSL coach Rob DeCorsey. “I think they know we’re better than that.”
The veteran coach figures his team’s somber reaction to the 14-point loss to Watertown-Mayer Jan. 14 was disappointment, perhaps discomfiture, at the Panthers’ subpar showing against the Royals.
“We came out flat again,” DeCorsey said.
The win over Litchfield might have been the reaction to the performance against the Royals. GSL played a smart game against Litchfield, a team that forces its opponents to be patient and takes full advantage of foes who won’t play with discipline.
