Edward C. Koehn, 73, of Monticello

Edward Charles Koehn

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Charles Koehn of Monticello, Dec. 2. He was born March 14, 1945, in Detroit, Mich. to Marvin and Mildred (King) Koehn. His family moved to Lexington, Ky. where he spent much of his childhood and graduated from high school there in 1963. After high school, Mr. Koehn enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed in Puerto Rico for four years. He served as a cryptographer for the military. When Mr. Koehn completed his military duty, he furthered his education by attending the Control Data Institute. He worked with computers in various jobs.
In 1969, Mr. Koehn was joined in holy marriage to Beverly Ortloff at First Evangelical Lutheran in Glencoe. Together they raised two sons.
Mr. Koehn enjoyed playing softball well into his 60s, rehabbing homes and did projects around the house. But his favorite pastime was spending quality moments with his grandchildren. He would attend their school programs and games, and often said being a grandpa was one of his favorite joys.
His parents, Marvin and Mildred; his father and mother-in-law, Louis and Gladys Ortloff, preceded Mr. Koehn in death.
Mr. Koehn is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beverly; sons, E. Douglas (Christine) and Michael (Myra); grandchildren, Jonathan, Nicholas, Ashley, and Marisa; sister, Marilyn (Lee) Watkins; brothers-in-law, Charles (Karen) Ortloff and Larry (Kathy) Ortloff; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, Dec. 7, 11:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior at The Peterson Chapel, 119 Central Ave, Buffalo. Pastor Charles Ortloff will officiate the service and Jonathan and Nicholas Koehn will serve as urn-bearers.
A private interment for family will be scheduled at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo and online condolences may be directed to www.thepeterson
