Edward A. Fasching, 90, of Winsted

Edward Andrew Fasching, 90, of Winsted, died Sunday, May 7, 2017, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, May 11, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with the Revs. Paul Schumacher and Mark Mallak (a nephew) officiating.
Casket bearers were Neil Wolford, Kerri Fasching, Jacob Paurus, Brad Danielson, Eddie Sautel, Joshua Fasching and Cassie Sherman. Interment was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Mr. Fasching was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Winsted, the son of Joseph and Appolonia (Stifter) Fasching.
On May 3, 1949, Edward A. Fasching and Irene M. Metkowski were joined in holy marriage. God blessed their marriage with seven children.
Mr. Fasching engaged in farming his whole life. He was a faithful, lifetime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th Degree Knight.
He was a past board member of the Farmers Elevator. He restored two tractors and a Model A car. He enjoyed going to threshing shows and displays of old farm equipment. He was fond of woodworking, card playing, polka music and dancing. He loved being a father! He once said, “My job is being a farmer, my career is being a father.”
He is survived by his loving wife, Irene M. Fasching; children, Cathy (Brian) Wolford of Winsted, Jeff (Mary) Fasching of Hutchinson, Colleen (Paul) Paurus of Cottage Grove, Lois Fasching of Winsted, Susan Sautel of Skokie, Illinois, and Kristine (Brent) Sherman of Lino Lakes; daughter-in-law, Connie McTavish of Fridley; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Fasching of California; sisters, Irene Otto of Lester Prairie, Grace Nolan of Maple Plain, Rose Mallak of New Ulm and Linda Ruhland of New Prague; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Paul Fasching; three brothers, Bert, Fintan and Joe Fasching; three sisters, Clarina McInnes, Luella Kaczmarek and Marietta Nowak; and granddaughter, Valerie Paurus Ota.
