Edwin Lee Mielke, 84, of North Mankato, died Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Mayo Clinic System in Mankato.
 
A funeral Mass was held Saturday, March 5, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Burial will take place at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
 
Edwin Mielke was born Sept. 17, 1931, in Pipestone, the son of Edwin and Kathryn (Kelly) Mielke. He entered active duty in the U.S. Army on Feb. 26, 1952, and proudly served during the German occupation until being honorably discharged in 1954.
 
On April 15, 1961, he was united in marriage with Marilyn Zollner in Sleepy Eye. He worked as a lineman for McLeod Coop Power for over 20 years until he retired on Aug. 13, 1993. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, playing sheephead and traveling across the U.S. with his family.
 
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Mielke of North Mankato; children, Carolyn Mielke of North Mankato, Camille Mielke of Richfield and Edwin (SherriLee) Mielke of Mankato; granddaughter, Taylor Mielke; siblings, Bill Mielke, Gaytian Sweeney, Kathleen Cheritat, Virginia Beck, Gene Mielke and Dan Mielke; and many nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Allen and Charles Mielke.
 
Arrangements were with Northview - North Mankato Mortuary.
