Elaine E. Latzig, 85, of New Germany
Elaine E. Latzig, 85, of New Germany, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating.
Casket bearers were Isaac Krueger, Jackson Everhart, Malcolm Everhart, Paul Krueger, Matt Wosmek and Travis Krautkremer. Interment was in the St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, New Germany.
Elaine Latzig was born March 11, 1930, in McLeod County, the daughter of Emil and Laura (Tonn) Zebell. She was baptized March 30, 1930, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, and confirmed on April 2, 1944, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by the Rev. A.F. Vomhof. On June 7, 1949, she was united in marriage to Melvin A. Latzig at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by the Rev. Brent Streufert.
Mrs. Latzig was a homemaker and a farmhand. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing, playing bingo and cards. She had a nice-sized garden which grew much produce that she would can for the family to enjoy.
She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Diane (Gary) Hardel of Chaska; grandchildren, Ranee (Paul) Krueger, Rita Everhart and Matt Wosmek, Rachel Latzig and Andy Lewis, and Stephanie (Travis) Krautkremer; great-grandchildren, Isaac Krueger, Malcolm Everhart, Jackson Everhart and Mary Roberts; brothers, Clarence (Violet) Zebell of Glencoe, Maynard (Delores) Zebell of Glencoe and Vernon (Marlene) Zebell of Waconia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; son and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Latzig; parents, Emil and Laura Zebell; brother, Leonard Zebell; sisters, Viola (Walden) Kohls and Luella (Hillard) Graupmann; and sisters-in-law, Leona Zebell and Barbara Zebell.
