As Election Day nears, he’s pondering a primary pass

For the first time since I can remember, I might not vote this year … in the new state presidential primary that is.
I am a strong believer in voter participation, but the way the state primary is set up, there is no room for someone like me who votes for the person, not the party. I have no intention of declaring my allegiance to either the Republican and Democrat party, mainly because I support parts of each and much of neither.
So how can I pledge loyalty to a split ticket? I can’t, so I don’t plan to vote in the primary.
The new presidential primary is rigged to favor only those who have major party loyalty. The major parties are the Republican and Democratic-Farmer-Labor as well as two other “major parties” on the ballot, the Grassroots-Legalized Cannabis Party and the Legal Marijuana Now Party. Really? Other major parties?
I’d rather sit this one out since I like none of the above.
The presidential primary was approved by the state Legislature in 2016 and also allows for early voting.
There’s another rub. Why are we letting people vote early? I can understand if voters are out of town or unable to attend the polls because of illnesses. They can request an absentee ballot.
But to allow able-bodied people to simply vote early because they want to seems insane simply because they are too inconvenienced to show up on March 3?
Which brings up the point of the recent Nevada Democrat caucuses that allowed 70,000 to 75,000 voters to cast early ballots, even before the Democrats had an opportunity to debate, if that’s what you can call that debacle. It was more like a shouting match than a debate. By the way, where was the moderator who should have ended the nastiness?
Anyway, early voting indicated those Nevada voters had already made up their minds. So why hold the debates if their minds were already made up?
So as the Democrats continue to self-destruct and President Donald Trump continues to strut around like the egomaniac he is after his impeachment vindication, this election year is shaping up to be a disaster for moderates like me.
With all that said, I may have to stay home in November, too. It doesn’t look like it will get any better if the Democrats put up a far-left candidate like Bernie Sanders and the Republicans continue backing far-right fear mongering Donald Trump.
Some choices. Here’s hoping we moderates get a third option by November.
