Eugene Rannow, 78, of Silver Lake

Eugene Alfred Rannow, 78, of Silver Lake, passed away Friday, Aug. 10. He was born March 5, 1940 in Glencoe, the second child of six to Alfred and Mabel (Nelson) Rannow.
Mr. Rannow was a 1958 graduate of Glencoe High School. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1958 until 1960. He enjoyed his job as a truck driver, driving a milk route for 10 years, and then 40 years with Bjorklund Trucking. Mr. Rannow was a classic car collector and could fix about everything he tinkered with. He enjoyed going to auctions, having coffee and playing dice with his friends at Molly’s Café in Silver Lake, and time spent with his family and friends.
Jan. 11, 1964, Eugene Rannow and Marlene Ruzicka were united in marriage at St. Adalbert’s Parish House.
Mr. Rannow is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Zarazua; parents, Alfred and Mabel Rannow; parents-in-law, Clarence and Mildred Ruzicka; brother, Dale; and sister, Pat (Errol) Becker.
Mr. Rannow was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his wife, Marlene Rannow; children, Chad Rannow, Kelli (Kevin) Leyendecker; grandchildren, Mick (Melissa) Wertz, Heidi Wertz, Travis Wertz, Jaden Zarazua, Maria Zarazua, Justin Fabian; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Faith, Nevaeh; siblings, Janet (David) Lange, Thomas (Nancy) Rannow, Jerry (Peg) Rannow; sister-in-law, Carlene Grobe (Dan Erdmann); beloved dogs, Coty and Shelby; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 16, 5:30 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2:30 p.m., at Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake. Military honors will follow the service and a dinner will be held at the Silver Lake American Legion Post 141.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
