Evelyn E.M. Burdorf, 94, of Arlington

Evelyn Burdorf

Evelyn Burdorf, 94, of Arlington, died Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Arlington Good Samaritan Society.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 7, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington, with interment in the church cemetery.
Evelyn Emma Marie Burdorf was born Feb. 23, 1924, in McLeod County, to Alex and Emma (Karg) Kaufmann. She was baptized March 16, 1924, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe by the Rev. E. Kolbe. On March 21, 1937, she was confirmed by the Rev. Alfred Streufert, also at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was educated at First Lutheran School and District 6 country school.
On Aug. 23, 1958, she was united in marriage to Alfred Burdorf at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe by the Rev. A.F. Fellwock. She helped on the family farm, did restaurant work, worked at Kruger’s Merchant Store, Big Stone Canning Company, Good Samaritan Center and volunteered.
Mrs. Burdorf was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington, where she taught Thursday School and was a member of the Ladies Aid and church choir. She belonged to the Home Extension Group and was a club leader for the Arlington Conquerors 4-H Club. She loved to bake, sew and do word search puzzles. She loved visiting with family and friends, and dearly loved her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred Burdorf; daughter, Mary Beth (Gary) Fitterer of Rochester; son, Mark Burdorf of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren, Matthew, Eric (fiancée Lauren Dumont) and Kesley Fitterer; sister, Verna (Harold) Kunkel of Glencoe; sisters-in-law, LaVonne Kaufmann, Alice Kaufmann, Lorna Kaufmann and Daun Kaufmann; brother-in-law, Victor Brinkmeier; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Emma Kaufmann; parents-in-law, Herman and Anna Burdorf; twin children, Bruce Alfred and Beth Louise in infancy; siblings, Hillard, Marvin, Maynard and LeRoy Kaufmann and Lorraine Brinkmeier; sisters-in-law, Arlene Kaufmann, Arlene Burdorf and Lorraine Burdorf; and brother-in-law, Elmer Burdorf.
Arrangements were with the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington.
