Evelyn Truesdale, 94, of Glencoe

Evelyn Emma Brinkman Truesdale

Evelyn Emma Brinkman Truesdale, 94, of Glencoe, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Grand Meadows Senior Living in Glencoe.
Services celebrating the life of Evelyn will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, 11 a.m., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Friends are invited to visit with the family after services in the church fellowship hall. Evelyn’s wishes were to be cremated. Her ashes will be buried at First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.
Pastor Peter Adelsen will be the officiating clergy.
Yvonne Schuette will be the organist and Tim Proebl will sing “The Lord’s Prayer.”
“How Great Thou Art,” “Here I Am, Lord,” “Beautiful Savior” and “Abide With Me” will be the congregational hymns.
Evelyn Emma Brinkman Truesdale was born in Sibley County to Henry and Hattie (Voigt) Ranzau April 9, 1925. Mrs. Truesdale lived in the Glencoe area all of her life. She was baptized at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glencoe by Pastor Kolbe in 1925 and confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church by Pastor Streufert in 1939. Mrs. Truesdale received her education in the Glencoe area, first attending a rural one-room school and later attending Glencoe Public Schools. She graduated from Glencoe High School in 1943. In September 1943, she was united in marriage to Wilbert F. Brinkman. They were blessed throughout their lifetime by their two daughters, Marilyn and Phyllis and enjoyed vacationing with family at various Minnesota lakes, as well as destinations outside of Minnesota. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing many of her own and her daughters’ clothes.
After her husband Wilbert’s death in 1988, Evelyn was married to Clark Truesdale. She and Clark divided time between their home in Glencoe and a retirement community in Yuma, Ariz. Clark died in 2003. Clark and Evelyn enjoyed their RV and travelling together.
Mrs. Truesdale was a homemaker, and also was employed for most of her adult life as office manager and medical assistant in local physicians’ offices. She was very active in the Glencoe community, contributing her time and talents to the Glencoe hospital board, the Glencoe Business and Professional Women’s Organization, First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the First Congregational Church in Glencoe and the McLeod County Historical Society.
Mrs. Truesdale is survived by her daughters, Marilyn and Phyllis; four grandchildren, Corinne (David), Shanili, Allison (Jeff), and Eric (Melissa); nine great-grandchildren, Zoe, James, Isabelle, EllaMae, Audrey, Hattie, Sophie, Violet and JP; brother, Lester (Linda); many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Mrs. Truesdale was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hattie Ranzau; husbands, Wilbert Brinkman and Clark Truesdale.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Allina Health Hospice and Grand Meadows Senior Living for their attentiveness and care. Special thanks also to Pastor Peter Adelsen of First Evangelical Lutheran Church for his visits and ministry to Evelyn.
