Fahey’s Sales celebrates 70 years in business

Fahey Sales, headquartered in Glencoe, is celebrating 70 years of providing customers with quality auction, appraisal and real estate services.
To celebrate the milestone, Fahey Sales held an open house event on July 20. During the event, Fahey Sales offered tours to visitors, hosted WCCO’s “Sports to the Max” with Mike Max and enjoyed music by the Wendinger Band.
Fahey Sales started way back in 1947 when Joe Fahey Sr. (1919-2002) of Belle Plaine attended the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa. After his education, Joe Fahey returned home to start his own auction business with his wife, Blanche (1920-1995). Joe Fahey received his real estate brokers license in 1950 and shortly after running the sales barn in Belle Plaine, Joe and Blanche Fahey began helping local families with the sale of their machinery, cattle and farms from their home.
In the early 1970s, they began renting office space in Belle Plaine and by the late 1970s, Joe Sr. and Blanche Fahey were joined by their four sons, which enabled them to open up new offices in New Prague, Hutchinson and Norwood.
Today, Jim Fahey, the youngest of their sons, and his wife, Linda, are the two partners in Fahey Sales, with Jim Fahey’s brothers retiring from the company in 2002 and 2008.
In 2012, Fahey Sales relocated and consolidated to Glencoe, a decision that had a lot to do with the direction the company was taking.
