First Lutheran Church has new assistant pastor
First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glencoe announces that Peter Adelsen has accepted the call to serve as its assistant pastor.
The ordination and installation service will be held Sunday, July 9, at 4 p.m. This special service is a once-in-a-lifetime event in which Adelsen will be ordained as a pastor in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Music will be provided by various choral and instrumental groups from First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastors from all over the local circuit also will take part in this divine service. A congregational welcome meal will follow at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Adelsen is from Kokomo, Indiana. He and his wife, Melissa, both 31, have been married for three years. Adelsen received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, in 2009. He attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, and served his vicarage at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City, Iowa. He received the call to First Evangelical Lutheran Church on April 26, and graduated in May with a master’s degree.
The Adelsens are looking forward to making Glencoe their new home.
