Food shelf served 5,432 people in 2015
To the Editor:
The McLeod Emergency Food Shelf completed its usage report for 2015 and the distribution of food out of the Glencoe and Hutchinson sites totaled 550,543 pounds. The number served is at 5,432 individuals in McLeod County, or about 15.5 percent of the county population. Again this year, the number of people in the age group of 65 and up showed the largest increase of people using the food shelf, up almost 4 percent more than last year.
We hope that you will support us generously with food and money through out the year to help us continue to feed the hungry. According to the Charities Review Council, we use 96.7 percent of all donations to provide food distribution to the hungry while only 3.3 percent is used for administration.
And if you see any of our great volunteers be sure to thank them for their 8,251 volunteer hours they donated in 2015! Thank you for your continued support of feeding the hungry.
