Gary Johnson
Gary R. Johnson, 67, of Brownton, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at his home.
A memorial service was held Friday, Feb. 26, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart with the Rev. Mahlon Bekedam officiating. Music was provided by Adline Kottke, organist, and Christian Nielsen, soloist. The eulogy was delivered by Diane Lawson.
Gary Randall Johnson was born May 23, 1948, at the New Ulm Hospital in New Ulm, the son of Lawrence and Joyce (Bubolz) Johnson. He was baptized as an infant in 1948 in Winthrop, and confirmed on Sept. 16, 1962, in LeSueur. He was educated in LeSueur and was a graduate of LeSueur High School.
On March 28, 1991, he was united in marriage to Marie Kisling at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart. They resided in Brownton, and shared 24 years of marriage.
Mr. Johnson was employed as a plumber at Bob’s Plumbing and Heating in Glencoe. He retired in 1995. Prior to this, he had worked at Alumnacraft in St. Peter, LeSueur Public Schools and the LeSueur Foundry.
Mr. Johnson enjoyed tending to his garden, bird watching, fishing, playing horseshoes, having coffee with his friends, and spending time with his special friend, Roger Lawson. He loved going with Roger to pick up snowmobiles, because that gave him the opportunity to visit new towns. Among his other favorite things to do were riding in his electric wheelchair, fishing and tinkering. He cherished spending time with and walking his dog, Sadie Jane. He especially cherished spending time with his wife Marie, his family and his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Johnson of Brownton; children, Kimberly Johnson of New Richland and Kristine (Scott) Dolezal of LeSueur; grandchildren, Justin and Jacob Dolezal and Tyler and Taylor Blaschko; great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathy (John) Plaisance of Frederick, Maryland, and Susan (Mike) Resch of Midlothian, Virginia; brothers, Dale Johnson of Mankato, Doug Johnson of Lake Crystal and Allen (Jennifer) Johnson of Roberts, Wisconsin; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Joyce Johnson; and brother, Kevin Johnson.
Arrangements were with the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Stewart.
