Gene E. Streachek, 80, rural Glencoe

Gene E. Streachek, 80, of rural Glencoe, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Feb. 4, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Tony Stubeda officiating. Military rites were provided by American Legion Post 141.
Honorary pallbearers were Chris Bahr, Angie Christen, Jenny Bahr and Jacob and Hannahn Kuntz. Pallbearers were Shelby, Sydney, Seth, Shanie, Samson, Simon, Saul and Selah Streachek. Interment was in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Gene Streachek was born in Silver Lake on Aug. 18, 1934, the son of Edward and Alice (Matousek) Streachek. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1951.
On April 11, 1982, he and Marion Kuntz were joined in holy marriage. He engaged in farming in Rich Valley Township, McLeod Countty, for many years.
Mr. Streachek was a musician since the age of 14. Through the years, he played trumpet for Jerry Dostal, Babe Wagner, Rollie Wickman, The Jolly Czechs and The Second Addition. He also was on KDUZ radio for nearly 20 years.
He was a faithful member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Glencoe. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus in Glencoe and to the Color Guard of American Legion Post 141 in Silver Lake.
He loved his family!
He is survived by his wife, Marion; children, Sheri (Tony Repesh) Streachek, Scott (Annette) Streachek, Jodee Streachek, Lisa Streachek, Debbie Bahr and LeRoy (Wendy) Kutz; 13 grandchildren, Shelby, Sydney, Seth, Shanie, Samson, Simon, Saul and Selah Streachek, Chris (Anita) Bahr, Angie (Keith) Christen, Jenny Bahr and fiancé Leighton Enz, and Jacob and Hannah Kuntz; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Audrey Bruggemeier, Floyd (Betty) Kuntz, Lyle (Lavonne) Kuntz, Delphine (Clifford) Zellmann, Ilene (Charles) Dietzel and Cherilyn (Jim) Luke; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Dave Bahr; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Lydia Bruggemeier; and brothers-in-law, Gilbert Bruggemeier and Alfred Kuntz.
