George H. Lhotka, 74, of Silver Lake

George Lhotka
George Henry Lhotka, 74, of Silver Lake, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at Yuma Regional Health Center in Yuma, Arizona.
 
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, March 7, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with the Revs. Tony Stubeda and Paul Schumacher as the concelebrants.
 
George Henry Lhotka was born Jan. 22, 1942, in Silver Lake, the son of George and Mary (Wosmek) Lhotka.
 
He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army for 91⁄2 years.
 
On July 10, 1971, George H. Lhotka and Helen E. Grack were joined in holy marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. God blessed their marriage with two sons.
 
Mr. Lhotka formerly owned George’s Garage for 36 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf with his sons, gardening, helping other people, going on trips and fishing with his buddy Felix.
 
He was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. He was a longtime member of the Silver Lake Fire Department, where he served as civil defense director and as assistant fire chief. He also belonged to the Civil Air Patrol and to the Silver Lake Sportsman’s Club. He was a member of the VFW and the DAV, both in Hutchinson. He was a past chairman of the Silver Lake Pool Committee and was Pola-Czesky Days grand marshal in 2000.
 
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; sons, Timothy Lhotka of Plymouth and Aaron Lhotka of Chicago, Illinois; brothers, Ray (Joyce) Lhotka of Silver Lake, Don (Marion) Lhotka of Lester Prairie, Francis (Pok-Hui) Lhotka of Seattle, Washington, Roger (Genny) Lhotka of Silver Lake and Larry (Janice) Lhotka of Silver Lake; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Lhotka; sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Eddie Kulinski; brothers-in-law, Dennis Grack and Howard Grack; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Halbert and Edna Grack.
